The Need:

In the spring of 2016 Denver-based entrepreneur, Meredith Tousignant, had a vision for a new video production company with an emphasis on high-touch service and exceptionally high-polish product. As a seasoned video producer, she certainly had the chops to bring videos to market, but she needed a brand and identity to bring her new venture to life. So I worked with her to develop a branding suite as unique as her video editing style.

The Remedy:

As always, I took a good hard gander around the market to see what local videographers were offering up. While many had redoubtable portfolios, few were able to focus on the true value that they brought to their clients. With this in mind, we began to tear through a series of potential identities.

Paracosm: a world that exists solely in one’s mind.

After rounds of development, we landed on Paracosm Productions.  Then tied it together with the tagline: The world in your mind, coming to a screen near you. All to harp back to what her company would really offer, the ability to translate nebulous concepts and visions into great looking video content.

Once the name was locked in I began developing a visual identity that was as polished as their productions. I used a series of refined typefaces and played them up by erasing portions of the letters in Paracosm to create a feeling of movement throughout the logo (and to facilitate future animated logo options).

Finally, I paired the text logo with this “planetary” insignia. It’s a compelling visual identity that actually contains several fun callbacks. Most clearly it was designed to look like a series of orbiting planets, once again providing a reference to the Paracosm name. But what’s more, I designed the insignia to also call to mind the lens-flares that many associate with professional quality video production. Once it was all done, of course, I packaged everything together along with easy-to-understand brand standards for the future use of the Paracosm team.

The Results:

This brand identity helped serve as the official launching point for Paracosm Productions. Since it’s creation Meredith has expanded her team of videographers, animators, and video talent to constantly push the boundaries of what their videos can do, and the worlds they can create. Today, Paracosm provides video services to clients across Colorado.
